Manapouri Unit 2 Headcover and Bottom Ring Supply

In recent years the slow down and stopping performance of the Manapouri hydro generators has begun to deteriorate. Investigations have concluded that material galling is occurring between the wicket gates and facing plates. This galling is affecting the speed at which the wicket gates can close, where also, the galling damage is allowing uncontrolled water to enter the turbine runner.

To address the poor slowdown and stopping performance of the Manapouri hydro generators Meridian has initiated a project of works that will see about the repair/restoration of each effected hydro generators.

Meridian wishes to engage with one company to supply one head cover and one bottom ring. The newly manufactured components are designed to work within the existing machine envelope, while also being designed so that galling damage does not occur again.

The goods include the shop drawings, manufacture, and delivery of one (1x) head cover and one (1x) bottom ring. The goods include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Procurement and supply of all input materials.
•  Manufacture and supply of the replacement head cover and bottom ring.
•  Comprehensive quality control of all manufactured items.
•  Health and Safety management.
•  Project management and reporting.
•  Delivery of all manufactured goods from manufacture location to the Delivery Place.
•  Supply of manufacture documentation including; as manufactured drawings, materials certifications, quality assurance records, project management and manufacture reports, and transportation records.
