DESCRIPTION OF WORKS

The purpose of these works is to upgrade both Ravensworth Rest Areas due to customer feedback. The customer feedback indicates that improvement is needed at these locations so that the amenity of TfNSW rest area facilities can continue to meet the current and future needs of the travelling public and particularly heavy vehicle drivers.

Ravensworth Rest Area is located on the Sturt Highway between Hay and Balranald. The site currently has no lighting and a Rota-Loo composting toilet.

It is proposed to:

• Replace the existing toilet block and associated access ramp at Ravensworth Eastbound Rest Area with a new toilet block and accessible facility, including installation of a water tank, sewerage treatment system, and lighting.

• Install a new toilet block at Ravensworth Westbound Rest Area, including an access ramp, lighting, and associated drainage and sewage facilities, to provide accessible amenities.

The scopes of work generally comprise of the following but not limited to:

• TfNSW will mark the location of utilities on site. Contractor is responsible for physically locating/potholing utilities on site. Contractor shall always keep Utility Plans on site.

• The Warranty period is 12 months.

• Site establishments (list number of site establishments required, include as Pay Item in Schedule of Rates / Schedule of Prices if applicable)

• Traffic Control. 

• Implementation and operation of Management Systems for elements of quality, environment, safety, community, industrial relations, programming, records, etc

• All personnel engaged on the works must be appropriately trained and in possession appropriate tickets.

• Contractor is to ensure that any disturbances caused because of these works, direct or otherwise, are made good prior to the completion of contracted works.

Tenders are invited from suitably qualified contractors to carry out the upgrade of both Ravensworth Rest Areas.

The works aim to upgrade both Ravensworth Rest Areas based on customer feedback. Improvements are needed to ensure TfNSW rest area facilities meet current and future needs, especially for heavy vehicle drivers. Proposed works include:

(a) Replacing the existing toilet block at the Ravensworth Eastbound Rest Area with accessible facilities, including a new water tank, septic system, and lighting; and

(b) Installing a new toilet block with lighting and disabled access at the Westbound Rest Area.

A pre-tender meeting will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams at 10:00 am on Wednesday 17 September 2025. Attendance at the pre-tender meeting is mandatory to submit a conforming tender.
