Waterproofing of the roof at 153 Herries Street, Toowoomba

Council wish to undertake waterproofing work at 153 Herries Street, Toowoomba to a standard whereby a minimum of a 15 year manufacturer backed warranty can be issued. The scope of work will include the removal of the existing waterproofing membrane back to a clean substrate – this may require mechanical removal and/or grinding. The area will then require preparation and in some cases levelling, fall will need to be created to assist water run off to exit points. Air conditioning ducts may need to be raised slightly to allow access, working at heights anchor points will need to be removed and replaced to a certifiable standard. Existing redundant skylights will need to be capped off or deleted in a manner in which they become impervious to water ingress.

153 Herries Street, Toowoomba is the principal administration building that houses approximately 200 staff. The building itself is of brick construction and retains the original roof. The roof consists of bituminous sheeting over a cement substrate. The area accommodates the air conditioning ducts and a number of skylights.
