Design and Documentation of New Research Laboratory at Tamworth Agricultural Institute

The new entomology lab should embody a modern rural architectural aesthetic that reflects both scientific excellence and connection to place. The design should be simple, robust, and welcoming, with an emphasis on durability, sustainability, and harmony with its agricultural surroundings.

Scope

The entomology laboratory located at NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (NSW DPIRD) in Tamworth, provide research and surveillance of insecticide resistance across five of the six major insect pests of cotton, including Helicoverpa, mirids, thrips, mites, and aphids. It is proposed to augment the existing 1970 era laboratory to improve functionality, workflow, WHS compliance, and long-term operational efficiency. The facility will combine new-build elements with refurbishing of the existing.
