ABOUT THE TENDER

Adelaide Biobank, a leading biobanking facility in South Australia, supports the impactful research at the University of Adelaide by providing long-term storage and protection for valuable and irreplaceable ultra-cold research materials. The existing Adelaide Biobank facilities include specialised equipment, such as ultra-cold (-80°C) freezers, backup power systems, CO2 supplies, and critical sensing alarms to mitigate risks.

The Biobank 4 project addresses the need to expand the capacity of the Adelaide Biobank to meet the projected increase in research requiring centralised biobanking facilities. The existing biobanks are projected to reach its storage capacity by 2026. This expansion will provide additional capacity through to 2028, ensuring the facility can continue to support critical research through the transition to the future Adelaide University. Biobank 4 will create a new specialist area to accommodate 30 ultra-cold (-80°C) freezers. These freezers will be installed on the ground floor of the Brailsford Robertson Building, located in the northwest corner of the University of Adelaide's North Terrace Campus.

The University is not bound to accept the lowest priced Tender or all or any part of a Tender and reserves the right to conduct the Request for Tender process and select the successful respondent(s) as it sees fit. Staff of the University are unable to respond to verbal enquiries in relation to the proposal. Late, verbal or emailed proposals will not be accepted.
