Torquay Medicare Urgent Care Clinic

Since 2022-23 the Commonwealth Government has established 87 Medicare UCCs across Australia. Three Medicare UCCs currently operate in the western Victoria region in Ballarat, Geelong and Warrnambool. Following the 2025 federal election, the re-elected government confirmed the expansion of the Medicare UCC program, including the establishment of a Medicare UCC in Torquay.

Medicare UCCs are primary care services that are general practitioner (GP) led and aim to take pressure off local emergency departments by providing bulk-billed, seven days a week, extended hours care for urgent, non-life-threatening health conditions. It is expected that the Torquay Medicare UCC will provide access to urgent care services for the growing population of the Surf Coast and surrounding communities.

Medicare UCCs offer a viable alternative care option for people with conditions that require urgent attention but not an emergency response.
