Request for Tender: National Waste Contracts Salvos Stores

TSA Australia is looking to renew its existing waste contracts for Residual Waste and Recycling Collection servicing for Salvos Stores nationally. Currently the waste contracts are held by several different contractors across Australia, however TSA would like to explore the possibility of engaging one national service provider or having tailored, state-by-state contracts.

TSA has over 400 sites that collectively receive large amounts of textiles influenced by consumer trends and seasonal variation. Accordingly, the material stream is highly inert with low organics, a large quantity of textile products, composite products, and plastics. The stores experience large fluctuations in waste generation, with summer months producing higher amounts of waste than winter months. Accordingly, the Contract will incorporate flexibility to allow the Contractor to meet the seasonal needs of the stores.

Many of the products in the waste stream are already being recovered from landfill, however, the Salvation Army is open to exploring new opportunities and means of increasing resource recovery. Tenderers are encouraged to include value-add opportunities for increased diversion from landfill.

TSA intends to enter into a Contract for the Collection of the following waste streams from all of its Salvos Stores across Australia:

(a) Residual Waste

(b) Paper and Cardboard

(c) Other waste at specific locations

(d) Support for maintenance down time for SS Marlene (SS owned waste truck in SA)
