Tender Description
The University is seeking to engage a reputable, capable, and experienced fire contractor to carry out routine servicing of all fire protection systems and equipment across all University campuses. The contractor must ensure compliance with the Australian Standard AS1851-2012 and relevant Essential Safety Measures.
The scope of services includes the following Preventative Maintenance Program:
1. Exit and Emergency Lighting:
• Regular inspection and maintenance to ensure proper functionality and compliance with safety standards.
2. Fire Detection and Alarm Systems:
• Routine checks and servicing of fire detection and alarm systems to ensure they are operational and meet regulatory requirements.
3. Automatic Fire Sprinkler Systems:
• Maintenance of sprinkler systems, including booster points where installed, to ensure effective operation.
• Regular servicing of fire mains to maintain system integrity and performance.
4. Fire Pumpsets
• Maintenance of all pumpsets to ensure they are operational and meet regulatory requirements.
5. Fire Hydrant Systems:
• Inspection and maintenance of fire hydrant systems, including booster points where installed.
• Ensuring fire mains are in good working condition and compliant with safety standards.
6. Fire Hose Reels:
• Routine servicing of fire hose reels to ensure they are readily accessible and functional in case of an emergency.
7. Portable Fire Extinguishers:
• Regular checks and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers to ensure they are fully charged and operational.
8. Fire Blankets
• Regular checks and maintenance of fire blankets to ensure they are fully charged and operational.
9. Fire Resistant Doorsets and Smoke Doors:
• Inspection and maintenance of fire doors, smoke doors, and seals to ensure they provide effective fire and smoke containment.
The need for fire protection services is generally consistent throughout the year; however, where possible, high-frequency testing activities—such as six-monthly, annual, and five-yearly inspections—are scheduled during semester breaks to minimise disruption to staff, students, and campus operations. Certain periods may also require additional coordination due to major campus events or regulatory audits.
Mandatory site visits are required at Mt Helen, SMB, Berwick, and Gippsland campuses will be available prior to tender close. Attendance must be registered via the portal as outlined in the tender documentation.

Should Federation University decide to shortlist Vendors they may be required to provide an onsite presentation The anticipated date for this will be the 23 October 2025, the building, room number and time will be advised at the time of shortlisting.
Attendance will be required at Berwick Campus, Clyde Road, Berwick.
All documents including the Schedule of Rates, Tender Response Document Part 1 and Part 2, copies of current certificates and mandatory requirements must be addressed to be deemed as a conforming submission.
