Tender Description

Expressions of interest are open for a clinician specialising in paediatric medicine to join the CAC.

We've been invited to nominate a paediatric specialist to represent the RACP on the IHACPA Clinical Advisory Committee (CAC).

The Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA) is an independent statutory authority established under the National Health Reform Act 2011 (Cth) (the Act). It provides evidence-based price determinations and pricing advice to inform the Australian Government funding of public hospital and aged care services.

IHACPA’s CAC consists of clinicians from a variety of specialities and backgrounds to ensure it represents a wide range of clinical expertise. It serves as the primary forum for facilitating clinical input into IHACPA’s decision making process related to public hospitals and health care.

As outlined in IHACPA’s Consultation Paper on the Pricing Framework for Australian Public Hospital Services 2026–27, future work will focus on reviewing and potentially refining the pricing model to better reflect the complexity and cost of paediatric care, particularly services delivered in intensive care units (ICUs). This may include a review of the paediatric adjustment and its interaction with the ICU adjustment, recognising the different clinical and resource profiles of paediatric and neonatal intensive care.

Members are appointed by the commonwealth minister for Health and Ageing, following consultation with state and territory health ministers.

Read IHACPA Clinical Advisory Committee Member Guidelines (PDF) before applying.
