Tender Description
The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing requires the services of 1 or more suppliers to undertake Independent Clinical Assessments for the Medicare Urgent Care Clinics program for the period 2025-26 to 2027-28. Independent Clinical Assessments are required to be conducted by an independent third party to determine whether Medicare Urgent Care Clinics meet with requirements outlined in the Medicare Urgent Care Clinics Operational Guidance.
The Operational Guidance for Medicare Urgent Care Clinics sets a minimum standard for the activity, infrastructure and staffing of Medicare Urgent Care Clinics, while allowing sufficient flexibility for services to adapt to local conditions and needs.
Delivery Independent Clinical Assessments (ICAs) will involve:
a) conducting pre-opening on-site ICAs to support the establishment of up to 50 new clinics in 2025-26, (a list of proposed locations for new clinics is available on the Department’s website https://www.health.gov.au/sites/default/files/2025-03/locations-of-the-additional-50-medicare-urgent-care-clinics_0.pdf). The exact locations are still to be finalised.
b) conducting post-opening on-site ICAs of the established clinics when determined by the department to meet the ongoing program assurance requirements over 2025-26 to 2027-28 (a list of existing clinics is available at the Department’s website https://www.health.gov.au/find-a-medicare-ucc).
