Referral management processes at Monash Health involve extensive coordination across various platforms to ensure efficient and timely patient care. This includes managing approximately half a million external referrals and associated two-way communications annually across specialist consulting, radiology, pathology services, community and other clinical services. 

In addition to this, the overall referral landscape at Monash Health is fragmented; often characterised by short-term, interim solutions implemented for services in urgent need of improvement; as well as legacy systems that often take time to upgrade or enhance. Additionally, some clinical areas continue to rely on paper-based referral methods, further complicating the overall system. 

Monash Health is seeking to revolutionise the way that referrals are received and managed, to service the growing demand for health services across Victoria and improve by procuring a digital solution with advanced capabilities. The approach to streamlining referral management processes will be phased, with an initial stage outlined in this tender.

What we need

Monash Health is seeking a referral solution that streamlines, automates and enhances the referral management process; and guarantees no additional charges for General Practitioners or other referral providers to utilise the system. 

What’s important to us?

By procuring an innovative solution that will help address the issues outlined above, we are also seeking to minimise complexity for General Practitioners in Monash Health local government authority areas. Therefore, we are interested to hear from suppliers that either have a solution that is currently integrated with General Practitioner systems in the South East Melbourne region or is contracted to be; ensuring ease of integration and at no cost to the GPs. For avoidance of doubt, this could be to private or public health services in the community or hospitals, but must be implemented on General Practitioner desktops.
