Project details
The 2024-25 State Budget announced $36.400 million for the establishment of the Flinders Street Community Health Hub (FSCHH) at 244 Flinders Street, Melbourne.
VHBA is intending to release a Tender for refurbishment works for The Flinders Street Community Health Hub project.
The Health Hub at 244 Flinders Street will be a dedicated Community Health Hub delivered in partnership with Cohealth and Department of Health offering comprehensive health and social support services to the Melbourne CBD community incorporating care and services over two levels, Ground and Level 1.
Provision of Services/Scope of Works
The proposed Flinders Street Community Health Hub involves the fit out of two levels - ground and first floor within an existing building.
The site comprises an Art Deco-style commercial building constructed in two stages: the front section, facing Flinders Street, consists of three levels and dates back to the 1920s, while the rear section, facing Degraves Place, was built in the 1980s and extends to five levels with a total gross floor area of approximately 3,400m² across its five levels.
The existing building is situated at 244 – 248 Flinders Street, Melbourne, which is a prominent location in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, opposite Flinders Street Station and adjacent to the popular Degraves Lane. It features a primary frontage to and entry on Flinders Street, with additional vehicle and pedestrian access via Degraves Place at the rear. The surrounding area experiences significant pedestrian and vehicular traffic, providing high accessibility.
The extent of the project scope encompasses refurbishment works to the Basement, Ground and First Floors of the building, and replacement of plant equipment to the roof plant deck.
