Industrial CT Scanner

The Bradfield Development Authority requires an Industrial CT Scanner to support the First Stage metrology suite and core capabilities of the Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF).

Project goals

The goal of this RFx is to increase the operational capability of the AMRF manufacturing portfolio to better serve the mission of the AMRF, which is to provide exceptional customer service and support the growth of the local manufacturing ecosystem.

The Industrial CT Scanner will be used primarily for the qualification of products produced by the AMRF and offered to industry as a service for qualification and failure analysis of engineering components. The CT scanner will be in the AMRF manufacturing hall, located in Bradfield, NSW.

Criteria considered important to the AMRF use case:

• Scanning AM printed parts manufactured from nickel, copper, steel, and tungsten alloys with a wall thickness of 20 mm and part envelopes outlined in Section 3.2.
• Scanning composite parts, including composite overwrapped pressure vessels with a polymer liner, carbon fibre, E-glass, aramid, or natural fibre reinforced polymers made by filament winding, fabric layup, or compression moulding.
• Failure analysis of engineering assemblies of mixed materials. The approach for failure analysis will always be best effort based on the configuration of the scanner and not deemed a required criterion for the tender.

Scope

An Industrial CT Scanner will support the AMRF First Stage metrology suite and is essential to the core capabilities of the AMRF. The equipment will be operated by numerous AMRF technical staff engaged in undertaking industry projects for the purpose of enabling the application of advanced manufacturing technologies in a production context.

The package scope covers the requirements regarding the supply, delivery, installation, commissioning, maintenance, training, and ongoing engineering support,t including after-sales service of the equipment and operation of this equipment in the AMRF First Building as per below:
