Tender Description

Previous strategic work undertaken by Murrindindi Council has identified a need within local key industries for Key Worker Accommodation as a critical infrastructure enabler (Health and Aged Care, Tourism, Manufacturing) and to support recruitment of appropriately skilled workers to the Shire and to where the work is required to be performed.

The proposed project will deliver 14 key worker homes on two Council owned sites in Eildon. The housing will be managed to ensure that it is utilised by key workers and their families only. The two sites are 18 Twenty-First Street (Site A) and 10 Eighth Steet (Site B), Eildon, Victoria.

This project would suit a modular construction and installation approach.

The project will provide purpose build accommodation to support key workers live in close to work and become part of the local community in Eildon. The houses will be built as either 2 or 3 bedrooms with all amenities and designed to be sustainable and affordable. A minimum of 33 bedrooms are to be delivered.

The accommodation will be an attractive addition to employer offerings to attract key workers to the region.

The project will also act as an example of what can be done to support workers and provide a template for other developers to provide suitable accommodation within the region.

Through successfully delivering the project, Murrindindi Council is committing to aligning with the Regional Worker Accommodation fund vision, purpose, and objectives, by delivering:

  • A net increase in appropriate and affordable regional housing and accommodation for key workers and their families.
  • Regional businesses and services are better able to meet their immediate and future staffing needs.
  • Regional communities have improved access to services through attraction and retention of workers in sectors critical to the prosperity of their location.
  • A thriving, healthy and sustainable workforce, through providing safe, well-designed, and environmentally sustainable projects integrated with their community and enhance local amenity.

There will be a Mandatory Bidders Briefing Session - please see RFT document for details and how to register.
