The Australian Government is inviting an application via a one-off ad hoc process to apply to deliver services under the National Autism Strategy – Knowledge Translation and Research grant opportunity from June 2025 to 30 June 2026.
The establishment of a Knowledge and Translation body was announced as part of the National Autism Strategy 2025–2031 (the Strategy) and First Action Plan 2025–26 (First Plan). This ad hoc grant is to establish an interim, short-term knowledge translation function ahead of a future process to commission the establishment of an expert knowledge translation research body with a grant period of 2026–27 to 2028–29.
Grant objectives:
- Translate credible autism research into practical resources and guidance
- Improve policy, programs, and service delivery through evidence-based practices
- Strengthening Autistic-led research and increased involvement of Autistic researchers
- Identify gaps in autism research to inform future priorities.
Expected outcomes:
- Increased adoption of best practice by service providers, professionals, support workers, policymakers and program designers
- Greater Autistic leadership in research and decision-making
- Enhanced accessibility of autism research for real world application
- Scalable, sustainable, evidence-based and neurodiversity-affirming solutions.
