SDLAM - Murray Valley National Park [Millewa Forest] Package 2

⁠⁠⁠Demolish two existing regulators in the Millewa Forest (Murray Valley National Park) and construct two new regulators with associated fishways.

Project goals

The Murray Valley National Park (Millewa Forest) Package 2 tender forms part of the wider SDLAM (Sustainable Diversion Limit Adjustment Mechanism) Program.

SDLAM seeks to both address current critical water shortages, as well as establish infrastructure and processes which ensure the future environmental and economic sustainability of the Murray-Darling Basin. The objective of the SDLAM Program is to achieve similar or improved environmental outcomes for rivers, wetlands and wildlife using less water as part of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan. Project goals are to:

• improve the efficiency of how water is delivered to the environment (for example, building and improving water management structures.
• deliver more efficient water use practices to save water for the environment.
• remove constraints (and physical barriers) that impact the ability to deliver water into the Murray Darling Basin and where it is need most.

Scope

Project scope is summarised as follows:

1.demolish and remove the two existing regulators (Moira Regulator and Little Edward River offtake Regulator).

2. replace Moira Regulator with a new six bay box culvert regulator and associated fishway.

3. replace Little Edward offtake Regulator with a new cast in-situ concrete fishway.

4. remediate associated access tracks.
