Vivid Sydney

Established in 2009 as part of the NSW Government’s strategy to generate economic growth through tourism and major events, Vivid Sydney has grown to become Australia’s largest event and, the Southern Hemisphere’s leading multi-artform festival.

Celebrating creativity, innovation and technology, over 23 nights, light installations, music, ideas and food inspire global audiences and drive cultural exchange. Vivid Sydney showcases NSW's cultural vibrancy and positions it as a global leader in artistic innovation.

Vivid Sydney is a signature event for NSW, contributing employment, tourism, and enrichment for the people of Sydney and NSW. It heightens Sydney’s global brand image and growing local, interstate and international visitation.

In 2024, Vivid Sydney welcomed 2.53 million attendees and delivered $180.2 million in visitor expenditure for the State.

Vivid Sydney Objectives

• Stimulate the visitor economy and generate economic growth through delivery of a world-class winter festival contributing to the NSW Government's Visitor Economy Strategy target of a $91 billion visitor economy by 2035
• Cement Sydney’s position as the creative industries capital of the Asia Pacific supporting the NSW Arts, Culture & Creative Industries Policy
• Promote and stimulate Sydney’s Night-Time Economy
