Victoria Police is seeking a provider or panel of providers for the provision of Health and Safety Representative Training (HSR training courses) under the OHS Act. This includes the following training courses:

- 5-day initial HSR training course

- Annual HSR refresher course

The contract will be for a period of three years, with two 12-month options to extend, exercised at Victoria Police’s discretion.

Under the OHS Act, each DWG within Victoria Police elects an HSR. Under the OHS Act an employer must, if requested, allow the representative to attend:

(a) an initial training course, and

(b) an annual refresher course.

Deputy HSRs are also entitled to attend the training courses.

Training courses may be through the provision of ‘closed’ courses specifically for Victoria Police HSRs only, and ‘public’ courses open to HSRs from any organisation.

It is anticipated that most of the training will be required within the Melbourne metropolitan area, however training courses will also be required in regional Victoria. Training courses will in most instances include majority of sworn Police officers however will also include unsworn Victoria Police VPS employees.

Please note: Victoria Police acknowledges the OHS Act allows employees to select their own training provider in consultation with the employer. Employees will be encouraged to utilise the selected panel supplier(s) however this will not be mandated in order to comply with the legislation.
