Tender Description

GPs: take part in an innovative team-based approach to body image issues and eating disorders

In the North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN) catchment, about 4.4 per cent of the population – approximately 80,000 people – are impacted by eating disorders.

Working in partnership with the National Eating Disorders Collaboration (NEDC), NWMPHN has designed a new service model that integrates GPs with mental health professionals and dietitians to provide evidence-based care to people of all ages.

The pilot program focuses on early intervention and creates opportunities for patients to receive low or no cost multidisciplinary treatment.

Participating GPs will earn a national eating disorder credential that allows specialist registration with APHRA. They will also gain access to a community of practice, earn CPD hours, have access to our Eating Disorder Service Navigator, and be reimbursed for taking part in case conferences and training.

Called ‘Right Care, Right Place: eating disorders care in my community’, the pilot is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care.

Places within the pilot are strictly limited.
