The Department of Transport and Planning is investigating the potential for new and innovative digital solutions to address the problems faced by planning officials across government, while providing better support for citizen engagement with the planning system.

The objective of this Expression of Interest is to inform a potential procurement activity to deploy existing solutions that can:

• Empower citizens to meet planning permit requirements more accurately, in less time and with fewer mistakes.
• Facilitate a natural language interface with the planning system, including by accurately answering requests for information and providing clarification.
• Measurably uplift first-time compliant applications for planning permits.
• Improve the efficiency of planners in processing applications and reduce the time required to process applications.

DTP is particularly interested in the potential for emerging technology such as generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance usability, compliance, and processing speed.
