Tender Description

The Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) Cardiovascular Health Mission aims to make transformative improvements in cardiovascular health and stroke management for all Australians.

The objective of this grant opportunity is to provide grants of financial assistance to support medical research and medical innovation projects that:

  • Stream 1 (Priority Area 1.2; Targeted Call for Research): reduce the number of Australians experiencing cardiovascular disease and stroke by developing and implementing early, more effective preventive health interventions, by co-designing and developing strategies with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people to embed best-practice, culturally secure cardiovascular disease and stroke prevention for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people into care.
  • Stream 2 (Priority Area 2.2; Targeted Call for Research): conduct Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials to demonstrate safety and potential efficacy of novel devices and therapeutic approaches for cardiovascular disease and stroke.
  • Stream 3 (Priority Area 3.2; Targeted Call for Research): conduct a large-scale multiomics project focused on improving understanding of recovery trajectories and phenotypes, underpinning recovery and survivorship in cardiovascular disease and stroke.
  • Stream 4 (Priority Area 1.2; Targeted Call for Research): reduce the number of Australians experiencing cardiovascular disease and stroke by developing and implementing early, more effective preventive health interventions.

Applicants to this grant opportunity must propose research that addresses one of the four Streams of research. An application may only be submitted to one of the above four Streams. Applicants must specify the Stream to which they are applying in their application.

This grant opportunity is being administered by NHMRC on behalf of the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care.
