North East Water (NEW) are seeking to engage a suitably qualified contractor to successfully design and construct remedial works for the Rutherglen 6ML Clear Water Storage (CWS) tank. The remedial works will repair externally accessible components of the tank to extend the life of the tank and ensure drinking water quality is maintained. The works will be based upon condition assessment reports for concrete repairs and a concept design for modifications to improve water quality. All works will be completed with the tank in operation, supplying drinking water to the Rutherglen township.

The contract will be delivered through a Design and Construction contract with desired implementation during early 2025.

The proposed remedial works include:

• Clear vegetation and debris built up on concrete pathway surrounding the tank

• Repair externally accessible section of concrete ring beam through application of recommended products to cracks & degraded surface

• Reinstate concrete mortar at tank to ring beam interface

• Design and modify inspection hatch to ensure seal and prevent potential contamination ingress

• Seal any potential ingress points at tank platform and improve safety through installation of swing gate(s)

• Minor operability & vermin proofing activities

• Repair hardstand around the tank

NEW are requesting a suitably qualified contractor to consider the requirements for the project and to propose a method, timeframes, costs and set of outcomes to achieve the above objectives.

A site visit is a pre-requisite to submission and consideration of a bid.
