Austin Health intends to release a Request for Tender in late January 2025, seeking a Head Contractor to build a new endoscopy centre within the existing vacated space on Level 3 of HSB at Austin Hospital Campus. This forms part of the scope of work of this project. The project requires construction within an existing operational hospital.
The overall scope of work for this project entails the refurbishment of existing spaces on Level 3 of HSB. In addition, a new plantroom is also required on Level 4 of HSB as well as the creation of a services shaft between floors.
The construction includes but not limited to:
- Demolition of existing and construction of new walls, floors, and ceilings.
- Upgrade existing and provide new services (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fire) as required.
- New structure erection, wall and roof claddings, structural steel and roof plumbing.
- Working within a live operational and clinical environment.
- Working in multiple stages to accommodate hospital operations.
- Liaison and communication with a large group of stakeholders and competing requirements.
- Liaison and management of medical equipment delivery and installation.
This will be a select tender process called from pre-qualified contractors on the Construction Supplier Register (CSR)
Contract award is expected in June 2025
The Government’s Local Jobs First policy and Social Procurement Framework apply to this procurement. Tender participants will need to complete a Local Industry Development Plan (LIDP) as part of the Local Jobs First policy requirements.
