Tender Description
Pomegranate Health is seeking expressions of interest for its Editorial Group. Members will contribute topic selection, provide feedback, and ensure RACP policy compliance, while earning CPD points.
Pomegranate Health is a podcast for the professional development of RACP members, focusing on topics such as clinical decision-making, public health, evolution in practice, clinical ethics, and physician wellbeing.
The platform features the following academic series:
- IMJ On-Air — authors of the College's Internal Medicine Journal present their research
- Journal Club — scientists discuss key papers from leading research journals
- Case Reports — focused on supporting Trainees as they prepare for their exams
Pomegranate Health has several thousand listeners, 20% of whom tune in from outside Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. Past episodes are available at RACP Podcast or through any podcasting app.
Episodes are developed by a college staff member in consultation with members of the Podcast Editorial Group. This editorial group is made up of Fellows and Trainees, and has at times included other health practitioners, academics, and patient advocates.
A call for new members is made at the start of every year. The main prerequisites for membership are a desire to advance the culture of healthcare and some interest or understanding of the podcasting medium.
Key Responsibilities:
- discuss potential podcast topics and prioritise them for the development of new episodes
- for a chosen topic, suggest themes to explore and people to interview.
- listen to audio drafts before publication and provide feedback to the producer on content and structure.
Correspondence within the group is entirely via email, and there are no timed meetings.
The time asked of members averages about 90 minutes per month, but the informal nature of the group makes it very easy to adapt to an individual’s own schedule. Fellows on the group will be eligible for CPD points for their contribution to educational development.
The RACP requires that members have no previous or current professional or personal connections that may give rise to a perceived conflict of interest with the College. Members must adhere to the College’s principles of respectful collaboration as outlined in the Working Together Policy. (PDF)
