⁠⁠⁠The Aotearoa NZ Adult Medicine Division Committee (ANZ AMDC) is seeking expressions of interest from Fellows residing in Aotearoa NZ to Chair the Committee.

Kaupapa o te Komiti | Purpose of the Committee

The Aotearoa NZ AMD Committee aims to support the professional careers of Fellows and Trainees of the Division in Aotearoa NZ.

Working with appropriate College Bodies, specialty societies and staff in relation to medical education, policy and advocacy, Fellowship, and medical workforce to promote and support the practice of adult medicine in the Aotearoa New Zealand context.

From December 2024, the Chair role will become vacant as A/Prof Janak de Zoysa concludes his term and transitions to his role as Aotearoa NZ President-Elect.

  • The Chair and Adult Medicine Fellow will be appointed from within the Aotearoa NZ AMD Committee, with approval by the Aotearoa NZ Committee.

             -The Chair will also serve on the Aotearoa NZ Committee and act as the Aotearoa NZ AMD Chair on the Adult Medicine Council and Executive.

            -All current Fellows members of the Committee are eligible to apply

Fellows of AMD outside of the Committee are welcome to apply and would be appointed under the ‘General Member’ clause 5.2.4.

Takohanga | Responsibilities

The Committee meets up to 4 times a year, of which 1 may be kanohi ki te kanohi | face to face in Te Whanganui-a-Tara | Wellington.

Travel costs are covered in accordance with the RACP Travel Policy (PDF).

The remainder of the meetings, up to 3, will be hui-ā-ataata | Zoom meetings.

Most of the mahi will occur during scheduled hui, with up to 2 hours of pre-reading for kanohi ki te kanohi hui and 1 hour for hui-ā-ataata | zoom. Members may need to respond to communication out of session. CPD points will be allocated by the Secretariat.

Paearu Mātauranga, Paearu Wheako | Knowledge and Experience Criteria

  • Be a RACP Fellow of mātai rata pakeke | Adult Medicine, who resides in Aotearoa NZ
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to collaborate and build positive partnerships.
  • Computer literate with access to a computer.
  • Ability to prepare and engage diligently in RACP activities.
