Tender Description

The AFPHM FEC seeks expressions of interest from AFPHM Fellows to join as Deputy Chair from September 2024 onwards.

Description

The FEC oversees the Advanced Training program in Public Health Medicine.

The FEC key responsibilities are to:

confirm completion of training requirements of individual trainees to progress to Fellowship
monitor and review training program requirements, curricula and assessments, recommending changes to the Faculty Council and the College Education Committee
implement College Education Policy as approved by the College Education Committee (CEC) in the Faculty
implement the College’s Strategic Direction in relation to education in the Faculty
ensure standardisation in training delivery
ensure all forms of assessment are conducted fairly, efficiently, in a transparent manner and in accordance with standards
advise Faculty Council and the CEC on education policy and program development for the Faculty Training Program
accredit training sites in Public Health Medicine
monitor training of, and provide support to, supervisors in Public Health Medicine
consider speciality specific CPD and other educational resources for members, as appropriate
work collaboratively with stakeholders on education development and delivery
advise on matters relating to Overseas Trained Physicians as requested, including the completion of OTP requirements following the assessment and determinations made by the OTP Subcommittee (Paediatrics and Faculties)
undertake other functions as required by the Faculty Council. This may include acting as a Review Committee pursuant to the Reconsideration, Review and Appeal By-Law and/or independently considering subordinate committee decisions relating to individual trainee or Fellow progress.

The FEC holds 1 face-to-face meeting in Sydney and 3 video conferences a year. The term of office is for 3 years, with the option to renew for a further term.
