Monash Medical Centre Tower Expansion Project – Enabling Works Contractor

Project Details

The Monash Medical Centre (MMC) is located at 246 Clayton Road, Clayton.

The MMC is a 640-bed major research and teaching hospital located in Clayton and operating since 1987. It provides a comprehensive range of specialist surgical, medical, allied and mental health services.

In October 2022, the Victorian Government publicly committed funds to build a new seven-story tower above the newly expanded emergency department at the MMC. The announcement included commitment to deliver:

• New operating suites;
• New birthing suites;
• A new intensive care unit.
• New inpatient beds.

The Monash Medical Centre Tower Expansion (MMCTE) project will enable the hospital to fulfil its role as a tertiary referral centre for patients.

Services Required

The Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) in partnership with Monash Health, is seeking to engage a suitably qualified Contractor for the Enabling Works package on the MMCTE project.

The scope of works for this package is planned to include:

• Construction of temporary Ambulance Victoria (AV) access and parking bays including:
• Civil works (including roadworks, footpaths, kerb and channel and line marking).
• Light-weight structures (including canopies / covered walkways).
• Fencing and wayfinding signage.
• Construction of temporary Monash Children’s Hospital (MCH) drop-off and entry:
• Civil works (including roadworks, footpaths, kerb and channel and line marking).
• Minor internal fit-out / refurbishment works.
• Fencing and wayfinding signage.
• Services demolitions, relocations, diversions and new installations including Builders Works in Connection

Prequalification Requiremnets

The respondents must be pre-qualified contractors on the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) Construction Supplier Register (CSR) under the following category:

• New Commercial Construction.

With the following other selectors / experience:

• Company Size: Large – more than 20 employees

Max Project Value: greater than or equal to $7.5 million.

Tender Process

This procurement will be a multi-stage procurement process which consists of an open EOI to suppliers within one category of the CSR. Suppliers will then be shortlisted for an RFT.
