Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠Expressions of interest are open for 8 RACP representatives to join the Subacute Care Working Group (SCWG).

The SCWG is seeking the following:

  • 2 x Rehabilitation Specialist Representatives
  • 2 x Geriatrician Specialist Representatives
  • 3 x Palliative Care Specialist Representatives
  • 1 x RACP Paediatric Specialist Representative

The Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA) established the Subacute Care Working Group (SCWG) to develop a work programme on approaches to the classification and costing of subacute and non-acute care activities undertaken within public hospitals.

The group will focus on providing advice on the following Subacute Care Working Group Terms of Reference (PDF):

  • The development and refinement of the national classification system for subacute and non-acute care activity in public hospitals for activity-based funding (ABF) purposes.
  • The determination of the data requirements, collection, and coding standards for subacute and non-acute care services required from states and territories for ABF purposes.
  • The pricing of subacute and non-acute care in engagement with IHPA’s Technical Advisory Committee (TAC).
  • Members are appointed on the basis of their individual skills, knowledge, and expertise and hold their appointment at the discretion of IHACPA.

  • Reason for interest in representing the College on the IHACPA’s SCWG.
  • Please briefly detail your expertise and current work relevant to classification and costing of subacute and non-acute care activities.
  • Do you have any previous or current professional or personal connections that may give cause for perceived conflict of interest with the IHACPA?

Note: any appointed member will have their contact details and/or CV shared with the external body unless we are asked not to.

Terms and commitment:

  • Next meeting date: Thursday 2:00pm to 4:00pm, 5 September 2024, via videoconference.
  • Term of appointment: 3-year appointment (this is a college applied term aligned to the standard term as outlined in the RACP Governance of College Bodies By-Law (PDF). Representative’s terms will be reviewed at the end of 3 years and considered against the SCWG’s progress and ongoing work plan.)
  • Meetings usually occur once every 4 months, as required by IHACPA.
  • Note that this is a self-funded appointment, with meetings to be held via videoconference.
  • This is an already established working group.
