Expressions of interest are open for Fellows from the Adult Internal Medicine and Paediatrics & Child Health Division to become a Regional, Rural and Remote (RRR) Accreditor.
Description
We're responsible for ensuring that all training in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand is undertaken in accredited training settings.
The accreditation of settings and the Basic Training Program is an essential activity that ensures high quality training environments for tomorrow’s physicians.
We recognise and promote the value of RRR training, and we invite RRR expertise into the accreditor pool to strengthen accreditation decision-making. We encourage representation from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Māori accreditors.
Accreditors report to the Adult Internal Medicine and Paediatrics & Child Health Basic Training Accreditation Subcommittees in Australia, and the Adult Medicine Division Education Committee (AMDEC) and Paediatrics & Child Health Division Education Committee (PDEC) in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Accreditors are eligible to gain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours for the accreditation activities undertaken.
Responsibilities
As an RRR Accreditor, you'll:
1. undertake setting and training program accreditation reviews with peers
2. assist with 2 RRR site visits a year according to your availability
- visits will take approximately 5 hours
- all visits will adhere to local COVID-19 public health orders and restrictions
- virtual visits may be conducted if needed
- all travel costs and expenses will be covered by the College, as outlined in the RACP Travel Policy and Guidelines (PDF)
3. play a crucial role in providing support and constructive feedback to RRR settings who are seeking to achieve RACP accreditation as a training provider
4. gain first-hand experience of the new accreditation standards and requirements in practice, providing you with valuable insight for future accreditation preparations in your organisation
5. be eligible to claim Category 3 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours for activity undertaken
Eligibility criteria
- be a Fellow of the Adult Medicine or Paediatrics & Child Health Division.
- have at least 2 years of specialist experience working in RRR areas (Modified Monash Model) category 2-7 in Australia and Geographic Classification for Health R1-R3 in Aotearoa New Zealand).
- have participated in a medical education program.
- agree to act in the best interests of the College and in line with the RACP values.
- have not been forcibly discharged from employment as a physician.
- have unconditional registration as a medical practitioner by the Medical Board of Australia, AHPRA or any other relevant governing body.
Prior experience in accreditation is desirable but not essential. Training and support will be provided.
All travel costs and expenses will be covered by the College as outlined in the RACP Travel Policy and Guidelines (PDF).
