NGN: Soils Management Video Series

⁠⁠⁠As a part of the recently concluded investment PLT1909-001SAX- Maintain the longevity of soils constraints investments and increase grower adoption through extension - western region GRDC contracted Anvil Media to film a video titled Get the most out of deep ripping: Tips on choice, set up and use of deep rippers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1R7QFxHiBA0

The success of this video can be attributed to the instructional approach taken in filming the video with input from machinery experts and growers. The video outlines the considerations that need to be undertaken by growers when making the decision to deep rip paddocks with face-to-face interviews, voiceover commentary and footage including drone shots and close ups of deep ripping in real time. GRDC West want to commission a series of 6 videos over 2 years filmed using the same approach for a variety of soil management techniques to inform growers in the Western region of best practise methods to use to implement these management options now and into the future. GRDC are seeking interested parties to co-ordinate and organise the project in collaboration with Anvil Media. Coordination of this project will require:

· Determining appropriate grower case studies, contacting and coordinating their participation in the videos.

· Contacting subject matter experts (SME's: researchers, machinery manufacturers ) and coordinating their participation in the videos.

· Organising machinery

· Writing scripts and engaging talent

· Liaising with Anvil Media to undertake filming of the management practices at the correct time of year and ensuring that the correct information is included into the final video copy.

This investment will include only the costs incurred by the project lead in completing this work as well as compensating the talent (growers, advisors and industry) for their time and machinery costs. The cost of filming and associated production costs would be covered by the current GRDC contract with Anvil Media, co-ordinated by the Western Communications Manager.

Linkages for video opportunities with other GRDC investments including Improving crop nutrition through extension of new research in the Western Region and the SWAN Strategic Partnership with DPIRD are also encouraged.
