Calling NSW Cardiology Physician to join the Advanced Training Committee in Cardiology

⁠⁠⁠Expressions of Interest are open for a Cardiology Physician to join the Committee as the New South Wales Representative and an Appointed Member.

Description

This is a great opportunity for Physicians who are willing to support current Cardiology Advanced Trainees and the training program. Help shape the physicians of the future and positively contribute to the direction, workforce and culture of Cardiology in Australia.

You'll be involved in

• monitoring and assessing individual trainee progress
• reviewing and monitoring the training program requirements, assessment and curricula in consultation with the relevant Specialty Society and other stakeholders
• recommending changes to the College Education Committee, via the Adult Medicine Division Education Committee and Paediatrics Division Education Committee/Faculty Education Committee.

Other key responsibilities

• Liaise with heads of department to facilitate a smooth recruitment process for incoming Cardiology trainees
• Monitor training of, and provide support to, supervisors in Cardiology;
• accredit Advanced Training sites or programs in Cardiology;
• assess recognition of prior learning;
• advise on matters relating to Overseas Trained Physicians, as requested;
• modify individual training requirements, as appropriate, in accordance with College policies and procedures;
• assess and provide advice on specialist recognition in Cardiology for Fellows in the Paediatric and Child Health Division or the Adult Medicine Division who have not completed the Cardiology Advanced Training program.

The Committee holds up to 4 meetings a year, 1 face-to-face (normally in November) and 3 via videoconference.

Members are appointed to the ATC for a 3-year term can be renewed for a further term.
