The scope of work includes but is not limited to the following:

- Provide a maximum of 2 (nominated) days per week (16 hours) and then on an ‘as needed’ basis, as agreed depending on applications, referrals and general enquires received.

- Be contactable between the hours of 9am – 5pm AEST on the nominated working days.Provide technical wastewater expertise for Council to carry out its statutory obligations in administering wastewater legislation and policy, as well as minimising adverse environmental impacts on non-sewered land within the Shire.

- Assess and issue under authorisation, septic tank installations and alterations of wastewater management systems, in accordance with the Environment Protection Act 2017, Code of Practice – Onsite Wastewater Management and Council’s DWMP 

- Conduct site and progress inspections under authorisation in relation to wastewater management systems, treatment and disposal as agreed.

- Provide clear, specialist advice to Planning and Building Services on development approval applications.

- Preparation of further information request/s (RFI).

- Preparation of the necessary internal and external referrals.

- Communication (email, phone, video conferencing) with applicants and referral authorities. Council will provide a Council email address to enable access to council software systems.

- Provide advice to the community on enforcement processes.

- Provide other services within the scope of Environmental Health as agreed.
