Glenelg Shire Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably experienced and qualified individuals to fulfil the role of Independent Member on the Audit and Risk Committee (the Committee) for a four year term.

The Committee is established under s53 of the Local Government Act 2020 and promotes strong corporate governance at Council and is responsible for providing independent assurance and oversight to Council on financial management and reporting, risk management, governance, internal controls, and assurance activities including internal and external audit and compliance with its policies and legal obligations.

We will value your strong skills which will complement our existing Committee Members with a sound understanding of principles of good organisational governance, financial management and reporting, risk management principles, internal audit operations, along with a high level of personal integrity and ethics.

The position offers the successful individual the opportunity to learn about the inner workings of Local Government.

The Committee meets, on average, four times a year and meeting attendance may be in person or online. Independent Members of the Committee are paid a meeting allowance of $570 per meeting, with the Chairperson receiving $633 per meeting.

Council’s Audit and Risk Committee Charter 2023-2025 further outlines the roles and responsibilities of the Committee and all interested individuals are encouraged to read the Charter before submitting an expression of interest.
