The joint Australian, State and Territory Governments' Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) provides a range of financial assistance to natural disaster-declared areas in each state or territory.
The DRFA has been made available to primary producers who were adversely affected by Tropical Cyclone Megan (AGRN 1116).
Primary producers can claim freight subsidy if they are required to move emergency fodder for livestock, remove stock from impacted areas, replace buildings for livestock, repair fencing, machinery and equipment associated with livestock or replace animals lost from the event.
Eligibility:
To be eligible, the applicant:
- is a Primary Producer as defined in the terms and conditions; and
- is a Territory Enterprise; and
- holds a valid Australian Business Number; and
- has assets or stock that have been significantly damaged as a direct result of an eligible disaster; and
- was operating in the Northern Territory at the time that it incurred losses in the eligible impacted area; and
- declares operation will continue in the same location and Local Government Area (LGA) after the event; and
- evidences the operation was financially viable within the two years prior to the declaration of the eligible event; and
- evidences insurance arrangements are fully utilized or not available for the expenditure being claimed under this grant; and
- evidences it has not received and is not entitled to receive any grant, compensation or other monetary amount intended to assist with recovery from the disaster the subject of this Program, from any governmental or non-governmental body or source; and
- is not an Excluded Entity
Applicants who operate more than one enterprise under a single ABN, but each enterprise operates separately within the impacted area, may apply for assistance for each eligible separate business.
Support available:
Primary producers can access up to 50% in reimbursement of freight costs, capped at $5,000.
This grant is provided to assist with transport freight costs associated with:
- moving emergency fodder for livestock
- removal of stock from the impacted area
- replacement of buildings for livestock
- fencing repair
- machinery and equipment associated with livestock or
- replacement of animals lost from the event
