Tender Description

The City of Launceston is seeking Expressions of Interest from Tasmanian artists to design and install a mural on the Criterion Place public toilet facilities in the CBD.

City of Launceston Mayor Matthew Garwood said the Council was eager to expand its portfolio of street art across the municipality, in line with its Public Art Strategy.

"This project follows a similar street art initiative at Kings Meadows late last year, and the Expressions of Interest process we've run in partnership with Vibrance for murals at the Paterson St East Car Park," Mayor Garwood said.

"We're seeking expressions of interest from emerging and established mural artists who would like to leave their artistic mark on a prominent CBD location.

"We're hoping artists will take advantage of this opportunity and put forward some ideas that will entertain us, intrigue us, challenge us, and tell a story about Launceston."

Expressions of Interest have opened today on the City of Launceston's website.

The Council expects that the successful applicant will install their mural in May.
