Tractor for the Molecular Plant Breeding Team, Horsham

⁠⁠⁠Agriculture Victoria Research (AVR) is a branch of the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) that is focused on supporting and growing Victoria’s agriculture.

The Agriculture Victoria Research (AVR) Horsham SmartFarm is a hub for agricultural research, development and extension.

The Molecular Plant Breeding (MPB) team manages more than 20,000 plots and over 15,000 rows for the National Field Pea and Lentil Breeding Programs at the Horsham SmartFarm, plus trials at four other sites.

MPB is seeking to purchase a new tractor that will be used to prepare sites, sow and manage experimental plots. The tractor must also be equipped with modern GPS guidance, meet all Australian safety requirements and include appropriate filters to provide a safe work environment for field staff while applying agro chemicals (herbicides, fungicides and insecticides).

The tractor will be used with a range of implements including:

• PJ Green single plot seeder

• 'Blue' single plot seeder (manufacturer unknown)

• 'Yellow' Paired row seeder (2 @ 75cm

• 3 cone paired row seeder (3 paired rows @ 125cm centres)

• 2m pathway shroud sprayer

• 3m shielded shrouded sprayer

• inter row shielded sprayer

• inter row cultivator

• Series 3-point linkage sprayer with 15m cross boom (to be replaced)

• Howard Nugget 1.8m slasher
