Marine Ecosystem Monitoring at Pyramid Rock Ocean Discharge from CWWTP
Tender ID: 548205
Tender Details
Tender Description
Westernport Water Region Water Corporation (WPW) is seeking consulting services to undertake a marine ecosystem monitoring program to assess the extent of potential effects of our Environment Protection Authority (EPA) licence discharge on the beneficial uses of the receiving coastal environment. This risk-based monitoring program should include:
Marine ecosystem quantitative characterisation: focusing on the condition of the intertidal marine ecological community and including observation of the subtidal community within the mixing zone
Water quality monitoring survey, dispersion, and dilution characterisation: focusing on nutrients as the key effluent constituents that result in modification of the ecological community and salinity as an effluent marker
Toxicity tests: two chronic toxicity tests using micro algae (Nitzschia) and bivalve larvae (Mytilus), the previous tests that have shown most sensitivity to the Cowes WWTP effluent.
