Tender Description

Wine Australia is seeking proposals to undertake a scoping study on gender equality in the Australian grape and wine sector, in order to:

  1. identify and analyse existing available data, consider data gaps and propose an optimum future state;
  2. better understand where the challenges and opportunities lie which will lay the foundation for informed decision-making and actions, with roles and responsibilities clarified; and
  3. identify, share and amplify practical strategies, resources and existing success stories. We’ve heard from the sector, particularly through Australian Grape & Wine’s Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEIW) Committee, that there’s a need for the prioritisation of gender equality research and data.

Consultations during the development of the One Sector Plan (OSP) indicated that diversity, in terms of gender, First Nations and cultural backgrounds, is a priority consideration. The sector acknowledges the need for attracting and retaining a more inclusive workforce, recognising the value of diverse perspectives and genuinely taking unified collective action to demonstrate Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) performance on a global stage in line with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) credentials.

The current focus on gender is a starting point to inform the sector’s future work in DEI, while keeping in consideration other funding priorities the sector has asked for.
