⁠⁠⁠Livestock Genetics R&D Project Call2023/24 MLA National Livestock Genetics Consortium Project Call for Livestock Genetics Research and Development

Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) is seeking Preliminary Proposals from individuals, organisations or project teams to address the 2023/24 research, development and adoption (RD&A) priorities for the Livestock Genetics sector. The 2023/24 National Livestock Genetics Consortium (NLGC) Project Call for Preliminary proposals closes 11:59pm, AEDT, 15th March 2024.

Preliminary proposals will then be reviewed by the NLGC Taskforce in April and post review and feedback Full Proposals will then be required to be submitted for full review in July.

2023/24 NLGC Project Call for Preliminary Proposals – TERMS OF REFERENCE

Project proposals will be reviewed by the NLGC Taskforce to assess how well they align with the NLGC’s strategic priorities. The NLGC Taskforce acts in an advisory capacity and can only recommend appropriate projects to be funded by MLA Donor Company funds. Final project approval will be subject to internal MLA governance processes and contractual agreement between the applicant/s and MLA.

Successful projects will be supported up to 40% through the MLA Donor Company, where there are eligible partner contributions.

To be considered for funding, Preliminary proposals must:

  • Respond to the 2023/24 NLGC Terms of Reference
  • Follow the NLGC proposal guidelines
  • Use the NLGC Preliminary Proposal Template
  • Be submitted electronically to MLA at livestockgenetics@mla.com.au by 11:59pm, AEDT, 15th March 2024.

Terms of reference

The NLGC Taskforce for the 2023/24 open call is seeking proposals in response to the following three priority areas:

1. New models for future reference populations

2. Accelerate the contribution of genetics towards environmental sustainability

3. New and novel genomic technology
