Ipswich City Council is seeking a suitably qualified contractor to complete slope remediation works at two (2) locations in the greater Ipswich area.
These landslips occurred after a significant rainfall event in February 2022 and the slips/washouts are close to impacted adjoining forestry access tracks, which, if not repaired, would restrict access to large forestry areas.
Geotechnical Design reports were commissioned in 2022 and 2023 to provide analysis and subsequent recommendations for site remediations.
The two (2) remediation slips/sites which form part of this project are located at:
• Saplings Pocket Estate, Pine Mountain
• Flinders Goolman Estate, Undullah
The scope of works for the Saplings Pocket site which has two separate (2) slopes, generally comprises excavation of the existing embankment and placing of a new pipe culvert, followed by backfill of the embankment. The finished surface of the new embankment is to be ~1m lower than current heights to assist in improving stability performance of the embankment.
The scope for the Flinders Goolman site generally comprises excavation of the existing embankment into benches for access, placing of the new gabion baskets (empty) and hand filling/filling with light equipment due to restricted access, followed by reconstruction of the embankment in controlled fill layers.
