Community Leadership Program - Expressions of Interest

⁠⁠⁠Golden Plains Shire Council is supporting aspiring community leaders to enhance their leadership skills with the return of its Community Leadership Program.

The Community Leadership Program (the Program) aims to develop emerging and aspiring leaders within the Golden Plains community, foster their leadership abilities, enhance their expertise, competence and self-assurance and develop community-driven projects and events.

The Program will begin with the first session in December 2023 before resuming in the week of Monday 12 February, 2024 and running weekly until the week of Monday 29 April, 2024. Participants can select for the program to run on Tuesday mornings from 10am to 12.30pm or Wednesday evenings from 6.30 to 9pm. The day selected as most preferred by majority of participants will be the day the weekly program runs on.

The Program will consist of 10 sessions delivered both online via Zoom and face-to-face at the Bannockburn Cultural Centre, 27 High Street, Bannockburn. Participants are required to attend at least 8 sessions to complete the Program.

Community members who live, work, study or volunteer in Golden Plains Shire and are looking to improve their leadership skills, connect with other community leaders and gain experience working with local government are encouraged to apply for the program. Participants require access to a reliable internet connection and a computer screen.

Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham encouraged aspiring community leaders to participate in the program.

“Community leaders are a vital part of Golden Plains Shire and have the power to make a positive impact on our community. It’s important we’re providing our local leaders with opportunities to develop and enhance their skills, build strong networks and learn from each other to create lasting change,” Cr Cunningham said.

“The Community Leadership Program empowers our local leaders by enhancing their skills and equipping them to enact positive change through tangible actions, supporting Golden Plains Shire to continue growing as a diverse and connected community.”

Expressions of interest will be open until 5pm, Monday 4 December 2023, and can be completed online at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations. Hard copies are also available at Council’s Customer Hubs, 2 Pope Street, Bannockburn and 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale.

Completed hard copy forms must be emailed to enquiries@gplains.vic.gov.au or mailed to Golden Plains Shire Council, PO Box 111, Bannockburn, VIC 3331 - marked 'Urgent – Community Leadership Program' by 5pm, Monday 4 December 2023.
