Management and Operation of the Geelong Arena

The City of Greater Geelong (‘the City’) is seeking Tenders from suitably capable and experienced operators for the Management, Operation and Maintenance of The Geelong Arena. Tenders close 2:00pm, Friday 10 November 2023.

In November 2021, the Principal endorsed the following recommendation:

A public procurement process for a Request for Proposal (RFP) will allow a market-driven response which could include options for operational contract or lease, sale of the venue, potential for capital investment or other market approach to best meet the needs of the City.

Conditions of the RFP will include honoring existing tenancy agreements (e.g. GUB, YMCA gymnastics, Elite Taekwondo, Kyokushin Dojo, various schools, Total Events Productions, Gymnastics Victoria and other users), and to negotiate future agreements in good faith.

Objectives of the RFP are:

• To reduce the annual subsidy for the operation of the Arena whilst maintaining existing tenancy agreements

• To explore market-led opportunities to enhance overall value to the users, stakeholders, and the community

Mandatory Criteria

All tenderers must be able to meet the mandatory criteria that applies to this tender for their submissions to be considered further. These conditions are:

1. Tenderer/Supplier must have a documented Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Management System with ISO 45001 certification or equivalent at the Commencement Date of the Agreement.

Contractor Transition: from Tuesday 27 February 2024 through to Tuesday 30 April 2024
