Sunshine Coast Council (Council) invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) from interested parties for the entire construction works related to the proposed Mooloolaba Foreshore – Central Meeting Place and Southern Seawall Construction (Stage 2).
Proposals must demonstrate the Respondent’s capability and experience to deliver projects of scale, complexity, and scope within a densely populated holiday and residential foreshore precinct.
As an indication of the scope involved, the anticipated construction works will include:
- Demolition:
- Demolition and removal of existing seawall, including buried rock at the toe of the wall, and material behind
- Removal of exiting amenities buildings, shelter above and surrounding deck (commonly known as ‘Loo with A View’)
- Removal of existing electrical and lighting infrastructure
- Relocation of existing shade umbrellas
- Removal of existing shade structures
- Demolition and removal of an existing old waterplay playground.
- Demolition of existing roads and footpaths
- Removal of street furniture
- Tree removal
- Pandanus and palm transplanting, including on-site holding nursery
- Construction:
- Establishment of temporary protection works to allow for seawall construction and appropriate associated engineering of the same
- All necessary environmental solutions to complete the works, including dewatering
- All necessary pedestrian and traffic management requirements
- Construction of new seawall
- Construction of new amenities building
- Construction of ‘Canopy’ shade structure
- Construction of viewing deck
- Construction of concrete pathways and roadway
- Supply and install of street furniture
- Artwork installation
- Supply and install electrical, lighting and audio visual infrastructure
- Supply and install Smart City infrastructure
- Coordinate service utility engagement and connections eg Unitywater, Telstra etc
- Stormwater and drainage works
- Supply and install water infrastructure
- Supply and install irrigation
- Tree transplanting
- Landscaping works
- Maintenance:
- 12 months defects period
- 12 months maintenance on all infrastructure and soft landscaping
Following completion of the EOI Process, the Council intends to invite up to five (5) Respondents to participate in a closed tender process. Council anticipates notifying successful EOI Respondents by 20 October 2023, with revised tender documents being released in late October 2023 with a contract award in late December 2023/early January 2024.
