Tender Description

The Council of the City of Sydney ("the City") invites submissions for big creative ideas for Sydney's major events including Sydney New Year's Eve, Sydney Christmas and Sydney Lunar Festival.

Sydney Christmas

Since 1971, the Martin Place Christmas Tree has been the centrepiece of Sydney Christmas. Over the years Sydney Christmas has evolved into a series of programs and events delivered over a five-week period. This includes entertainment and programming across the city, six Christmas Village Concerts at various locations in the Local Government Area, and an extensive program of Christmas trees and decorations.

Sydney New Year's Eve

Sydney New Year's Eve is a local and global celebration that reaches an audience of more than 425 million people worldwide and is attended by more than 1 million people around the harbour. Research in 2019 found the event has a direct economic impact of $280 million to Sydney.

Sydney Lunar Festival

Sydney's Lunar Festival is one of the largest Lunar New Year celebrations outside of Asia. This unique and internationally recognised event has played a vital role in unifying Sydneysiders, strengthening cultural relationships and supporting businesses of all sizes.

Organisations, visual artists, curators, collectives, producers, architects, animators, set designers, visual effects designers and anyone with a big idea that meets our creative brief are invited to submit concepts.

We are seeking ideas that demonstrate creative excellence, are innovative, accessible, and appeal to a global audience. Your idea can range from a small individual effect as part of an event, to a larger concept related to an event program. Applicants can suggest which event their idea is best suited to however the City may work with you to develop your idea for any of the City's events.

The City may shortlist respondents to workshop and develop their idea with City representatives or participate in a procurement process to deliver their idea.

The City will conduct a briefing on 28 September at 2.15pm in person at Town Hall House and online. To register for the briefing, please contact the Procurement Officer.

The City is committed to creating opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander owned businesses. The City encourages First Nations People businesses, Local SME, Start-ups as well as social enterprises (including Cooperatives) to work with us and respond to this opportunity.
