DSSN has recently completed a Destination Management Plan to guide the region's visitor economy which involved significant stakeholder engagement with State and Local Government, Local Tourism Organisations (LTOs), industry and relevant associations.

Through this stakeholder engagement, the lack of digital connectivity across the greater Hunter region was a standout issue in all sessions. Stakeholders described the issue as a potential reason they cannot perform to their full potential and create more employment for the region.

DSSN secured funding through the Department of Regional NSW Business Case and Strategy Grant to partner with an experienced consultant to deliver this project, which will look at ways to improve the digital connectivity in the region, drive more visitors and positively contribute to the visitor economy and create more employment opportunities.

Below is a snapshot of what this Business Plan will entail

PHASE 1

Deep Dive Audit (Technology)

Deliverable: The production of LGA Regions Telecommunications Infrastructure Audit

Identifying gaps in the region for connectivity (what is available and gaps) possible desktop audit.

Identifying peak demand requirements for the region (ie major events) specific to the local challenges

Additional audit information to support business case (as determined by the consultant)

Future Population and Visitation Audit

Deliverable: Future population and visitor demands on Telecommunications Infrastructure

Identification of future load demands (user numbers)

Identification of future use requirements (types and capacity of telecommunications)

Future Telecommunications Technical Options Case

Detail of infrastructure required to meet current and future demand

Options to address region specific challenges (geographical and demand)

The scoping and Development of Business Case to seek future funding:

Business Case Executive Summary Draft completed

Business Case Draft completed

Business Case Draft and presentation completed
