Tender Description
The YPARC program, in response to the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System, is a $141 million expansion of existing and new YPARC services. YPARC facilities provide short and medium-term treatment and support for young people living with, or diagnosed with, mental health issues, in a residential setting. The new units will provide community-based treatment for young people aged 16-25 who are unwell or recovering from mental health issues. Each facility contains accommodation for 10 beds.
The objective of the YPARC service is to provide treatment and support in a step-down or step-up program for young people who have a serious mental illness but who do not need to be admitted to an acute mental health inpatient unit. The step-up component is for young people whose mental health is deteriorating while receiving treatment in the community and for a person for whom an acute inpatient admission may be avoided through timely intervention. The step-down component is for young people who after an inpatient admission, still require a period of support and recovery before returning to their usual place of residence. In effect, YPARC services are a unit-based, mental health sub-acute service located in the community.
The Ballarat YPARC site (Project) will build a new YPARC facility to deliver a new 10-bed facility, which will be operated by Grampians Health, located at 31, 37, and 39 Durham Street and a portion of 28 Pleasant Street, Newington in Ballarat.
