Case studies to explore the economics of new herbicide application technology

Tender Details
Tender Description
New spray technology such as green on green sensors, drone weed mapping and autonomous spray systems are exciting developments for Australian grain growers. This technology is enabling growers to target weed species in crop and have the benefits of lower chemical volumes and/or costs.
It is generally viewed that this new technology is being taken up by larger scale businesses that are able to dilute the capital cost over a larger operation. As this technology is becoming more widely available, what operational scale do growers require to deliver an acceptable return on investment?
GRDC is seeking to address this topic via a case study, podcast and video series interviewing growers who have successfully integrated these technologies into their operation by asking how they did it, what costs were involved, and, both the direct and indirect benefits. This will allow growers to better understand the benefits from this technology, and more importantly, the operational scale required for this technology to have a positive economic impact to their business.
