Tender Description
Council seeks to establish a new five (5) year plus two (2) year contract with a B-Cycle approved collector and recycling supplier that will:
1. Maximise the recycling % of all battery types (both B-Cycle and non-B-Cycle eligible batteries) throughout the region, excluding Lead Acid.
2. Provide safe transport of batteries to the processing facility in accordance with Australian Standards, Environmental Authority 57 and Dangerous Goods License requirements.
3. Demonstrate a proven track record in safety and environmental compliance (e.g. ERA 54, 62) in the processing of batteries at their nominated facility
4. Capable of reporting to Council the product fate of the recycled material
5. Offer Council a range of safe and practical collection point storage solutions in accordance with Australian Standards and Industry Guidelines (ABRI), both in bulk and at customer collection points.
6. Provide Council with a reasonable recovery price without the need for additional Council handling and sorting of batteries.
7. Have capacity to assist Council in recovering emerging battery types that may significantly increase in volume and complexity over the duration of the contract.
8. Offer support to Council in promoting the importance of battery recycling to the community.
