Tender Description

Weddin Shire Local Government Area is located in the Central West Region of NSW. The site location for the work is the Grenfell Community Hub, 88 Main Street, Grenfell. Which houses the Grenfell Art Gallery, Conference Room, Grenfell Visitor Information Centre, and Grenfell Public Library.

Weddin Shire Council is seeking quotes from suitable companies for the design and installation of humidity and climate control systems for the Grenfell Art Gallery and Conference Room. The project is an upgrade of existing arts and culture space within the township of Grenfell.

This project is funded through the Creative Capital fund, established to meet the demands for facilities to support the creative economy and improve access to and participation in quality cultural experiences across NSW. The funds are being used to upgrade our existing cultural infrastructure, making it fit for purpose and able to accommodate quality programmings such as touring exhibitions and productions. Opportunities that the community will benefit from.

Museum and gallery facilities are under increasing pressure to reduce their environmental impact and be run more efficiently, whilst the objective to provide the optimum environment for exhibition display continues to be the key interest. The desire is driven as much by social responsibilities in protecting our natural environment as it is a need to reduce costs and control expenditure in a time of ever-increasing energy prices. Passive solutions and low-energy technology should be prioritized strategies for climate control.

Environmental Monitoring - The measurement and recording of the conditions in which collections are stored and displayed is desirable. It is envisaged that each space will be able to be individually controlled. These spaces will also have data loggers to track and record temperature and humidity.

Reaching an optimum outcome on the establishment of an environment that takes into account the collection sensitivities, the performance capacity of the building and plant, what is practically achievable and affordable and any sustainability requirements is desirable.

A mandatory site inspection will be held on Thursday 18th May 2023, at 10 am. Applicants are required to attend the meeting in order to submit a conforming quote.
