Open Space Management and Maintenance Services Region 1

Parks and gardens within the City of Melbourne are internationally renowned for their diversity, history, and horticultural excellence. The City of Melbourne seeks the provision of Open Space Management and Maintenance Services for all park, garden, and open space assets included within Region 1.
Region 1 contains parks and gardens in high-profile areas around the CBD including Fitzroy Gardens, the World Heritage-listed Carlton Gardens, and Kings Domain incorporating the Shrine Reserve.

The major focus for works in Region 1 is the maintenance of high-quality ornamental horticultural assets, with particular emphasis on annual bedding display areas, extensive shrub and perennial borders, and lawn areas that require holistic maintenance including weed control, irrigation, fertilizing, and routine mowing. Region 1 also includes a number of significant reclaimed water systems that supply water to parks and water features.

Due to their location, Region 1 parks and gardens have high-use patterns, host international events, and are popular areas for residents, visitors, and city workers. Maintenance of parks and gardens must ensure service levels are maintained in line with community expectations.

Service tasks required are Management, Horticulture, Infrastructure, Cleansing, and Waste and Water Management.
